Merħba għal GREENDALE

Meta wieħed iqis it-tibdil fil-klima li d-dinja qed tiffaċċja mingħajr dubju, l-Unjoni Ewropea b’urġenza teħtieġ forza tax-xogħol b’ħiliet ta’ sostenibbiltà tajbin. Dan illum il-ġurnata huwa ħtieġa u prijorità importanti ħafna tal-UE.

Madankollu, il-problema hija li hemm nuqqas kbir ta’ ħaddiema b’dawn il-ħiliet, li jfixkel il-progress biex jintlaħqu dawn il-ħiliet ambjentali. Barra minn hekk, l-ambjent tal-Edukazzjoni Ogħla (EO) għadu mhux attrezzat biex jintegra dawn il-ħiliet fil-kurrikuli tagħhom.

L-għan tal-proġett GREENDALE huwa li jiżviluppa u jagħmel applikabbli l-ħiliet ta’ sostenibbiltà tal-istudenti tal-EO minn kwalunkwe qasam ta’ studju, billi juża l-Qafas tal-Ħiliet Ħodor (GreenComp) tal-UE żviluppat fl-2022.

Check out the key insight shared by Dr. Jenilee Agius, Head – Legal, HR & Corporate at Reanda Malta, following our recent international training for company mentors. Her message is simple yet powerful: the sustainability of our world – at micro and macro levels – grows when young people learn to notice the impact of their daily tasks and are guided on how to adjust them with intention. We’re excited to collaborate with Jenilee and her colleagues Justina Galea and Erica Borg in supporting MCAST students to understand that sustainability competences aren’t only relevant in technical or environmental roles – they’re essential in accounting, legal and HR too. From understanding materiality, fair processes, ethical decision‑making and inclusive workplace practices, to spotting the ripple effects behind financial data and having the ability to anticipate long‑term impacts on people and organisations. Stay tuned for more mentor insights and approaches to integrating sustainability competences in any job or sector. #ErasmusPlus #sustainability #GreenInitiative #competences #workbasedlearning with ascendconsulting.eu Ekonomická fakulta, TUKE University Of The Aegean/ Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, MCAST, ASTRA – Association for Innovation and Development, IDEC S.A.

What an inspiring three days we had last week at MCAST in Malta! Our international training for company mentors wrapped up with an incredible vibe: full of active engagement, sharp discussions and rich exchanges of experience between mentors and academics from Malta, Greece and Slovakia. Across the sessions – from exploring sustainability skills and the GreenComp framework, to mapping internship tasks, defining learning outcomes, designing internship plans and diving deep into mentoring, monitoring and assessment practices – participants left with a much stronger understanding of the wide scope of sustainability competences and how to plan, support, monitor and assess their development in student interns. The energy in the room was unmistakable: curiosity, collaboration and a shared commitment to shaping greener, future‑ready talent. But don’t just take our word for it! In the coming days we’ll be sharing key takeaways directly from some of the participants. So stay tuned for their insights. #sustainability #greencompetences #MENTORtraining #workbasedlearning #ErasmusPlus #ESDW2026 with Ekonomická fakulta, TUKE, MCAST, University Of The Aegean/ Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, IDEC S.A. Our international mentor training in Malta kicked-off today with a bang: officially recognized part of both the European Sustainable Development Week #ESDW2026 and Malta’s Sustainable Development Action Days 2026 💚🇪🇺 🇲🇹 A recognition that speaks volumes, placing our work within a wider European movement that is building a critical mass of awareness raising and action prompting initiatives – from local communities to pan-European networks. What better way to train mentors on how to integrate into internships #green and #sustainability #competences like 🌍 Valuing Sustainability, 🤝 Collective Action, 🗳️ Political Agency? And by strengthening sustainability competences across borders, we also directly contribute to 👉 SDG4 Quality Education, 👉 SDG8 Decent Work & Economic Growth, 👉 SDG12 Responsible Consumption & Production and 👉 SDG17 Partnerships for the Goals. The summer holidays are officially behind us and we return recharged, inspired and ready for the next big leap! While August offered us some well‑deserved pause, it also gave us space to deepen our project work: selecting committed company mentors who will soon pilot sustainability‑focused internships with students across Slovakia, Malta and Greece. These mentors will play a crucial role in shaping how sustainability competences come alive in real workplaces – not as theory, but as daily practice. And now the momentum accelerates 🚀 At the end of September 2026, we’ll gather in Malta for an international training programme designed specifically for these mentors. Together, we’ll explore how sustainability can be embedded into everyday tasks, organisational workflows and decision‑making, regardless of sector. From ICT to transport and logistics, administration, construction and creative industries, sustainability is becoming a core professional competence, not an optional add‑on. Why does this matter? ✅ Because students learn sustainability best when they experience it. ✅ Because companies grow stronger when they empower staff to think long‑term. ✅ Because mentors are the bridge between education and the real world, and we want to equip them with practical, accessible tools to make that bridge solid. If you’re curious about how work‑based training can integrate sustainability competences, or if you’re exploring ways to bring greener thinking into your organisation’s internships or apprenticeships, stay tuned. We’ll be sharing insights, examples and resources in the coming weeks. #SustainabilityCompetences #GreenSkills #WorkBasedLearning #MentorTraining #ErasmusPlus #GREENDALE #FutureSkills with MCAST, Technická univerzita v Košiciach Media Pedagogy University of the Aegean, IDEC S.A., ASTRA – Association for Innovation and Development

> Greendale Erasmus+ project is with Nina Hadidomova and Natasa Urbancikova at Technická univerzita v Košiciach.
We are still catching up on the news from June – a most busy month for us! On 26 June 2026, our Slovak partners Technická univerzita v Košiciach, Faculty of Economics #TUKE and ASTRA – Association for Innovation and Development, also organized an Info Day to present our #GREENDALE project and its results, promote sustainability skills and GreenComp-based mentoring in Eastern Slovakia. The event brought together over 80 participants – students, universities, companies and NGOs, creating the conditions for future cooperation in the implementation of professional internships focused on developing green and sustainability skills. We are thrilled to see such interest in our project, with an attendance almost threefold that planned and positive feedback in 87% of evaluation responses. #EUfunded #ErasmusPlus #greencompetence #GreenSkills #sustainability

> Greendale Erasmus+ project is at MCAST – Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology.
Our Info Day at Malta College of Arts Science and Technology this morning was nothing short of energising! From the very first moments, the participants were engaged, curious and ready to dive into what sustainability competences really mean for Malta’s future workforce. Our MCAST hosts Nadia Boffa, Robert Buttigieg and Joshua Bugeja offered a clear, practical introduction to the GREENDALE educational and mentoring resources, showing how these tools can support educators, mentors and industry supervisors in embedding sustainability thinking into apprenticeships and internships. Their guidance made it easy for participants to imagine how these resources could be applied immediately in their own contexts.@ The panel discussion brought the conversation to life. Speakers representing industry, education and public institutions, including Anamaria Magri Pantea from our other Maltese partner ascendconsulting.eu, shared grounded, real-world insights on why sustainability mindsets matter – not as an abstract ideal, but as a daily practice that shapes decisions, behaviours and long-term competitiveness. Their perspectives connected the dots between policy, workplace realities and the expectations of today’s learners. But perhaps the strongest spark came from the group work sessions. Participants rolled up their sleeves, debated, mapped ideas and co-created practical pathways for developing sustainability competences. This hands-on exchange wasn’t just an exercise, but a solid kick-start for deeper industry–academia–government cooperation, laying the groundwork for initiatives that can help instill sustainability competences not only in our youth, but across our organisations, communities and society as a whole. If you’re an industry professional, educator or stakeholder passionate about shaping future‑ready talent through sustainability, this is the movement to be part of. Today’s Info Day showed just how powerful it is when various stakeholders come together with a shared purpose. Join us! #EUfunded #ErasmusPlus #sustainability #green #skills

> Greendale Erasmus+ project is at University of the Aegean.
This year, our colleagues at the University of the Aegean celebrated #WorldEnvironmentDay by organising an online in-house training workshop in the framework of our project. The event brought together 21 participants from various higher education institutions in Greece and focused on how sustainability competences can be meaningfully integrated into Higher Education teaching, learning outcomes, curricula, and assessment practices, building on the European GreenComp framework. During the workshop, participants were introduced to the aims of our Greendale Erasmus+ project, the structure and practical use of the GREENDALE Handbook “Teaching for a Sustainable Future – Integrating Sustainability Competences in Higher Education”, as well as examples of pilot applications in undergraduate courses. The discussion highlighted the role of Higher Education teachers in preparing students not only for professional success, but also for responsible, values-driven and sustainability-oriented citizenship. The workshop was also an important step toward the pilot revision of undergraduate courses at the University of the Aegean including applications linked to competences such as Promoting Nature, Systems Thinking, and Problem Framing. #ErasmusPlus #GreenComp #sustainabilityeducation #highereducation #universityoftheaegean #SustainableFuture #GreenSkills
